It had been about a year since I visited Lanview. so a few weeks back I went to see how the gang was doing. Sometimes I feel wickedly blessed that I can visit the one show that I follow everyday and who's characters I am truly invested in. I love how responsive and friendly the actors are, and I love how they love their fans especially by participating in Soap Weekend and the annual lunch event at the Marriott Marquis in August. When I stop by there is always other people there, but today it wasn't very crowded at all, and the one small group that was there really just stopped by to say hi and left after 20 minutes. I of course stayed the whole 60 minutes of their lunch. Its so funny how strict they are, everyone has to be back inside after the hour is up. It's a real job.
THEY WERE FILMING PICNIC SCENES THAT DAY: I had the opportunity to interview the director that was working that day. She asked me not to give her name or take a picture, so I will honor her request. She told me that they film about 4 - 6 weeks in advance, that the studio is small, and they film out of sequence according to "Sets", for example this day they were filming a lot of scenes on a porch, and also a picnic scene. So they will film the whole weeks worth of scenes that take place on these two sets, even if it covers two or three weeks of scenes and the actors have to change clothes to represent time passing. Then when they have all the scenes in the episode finished, they thread them together, edit them, "sweeten" it by tighting up the scenes and finally add music. At the time I spoke to her, they were filming July scenes, I wanna guess that it was probably July 4th.
My first encounter was with David Fumero so I knew I was in store for a successful day. I later overheard him complain to the director that the lights were to hot and he felt he was tanning since he has his shirt off for the scene. (Yum sounds good to me - LOL)
Robert S. Woods created the role of Bo Buchanan, the handsome son of the rich and powerful Buchanan family, in 1979 and quickly skyrocketed to stardom, receiving an Emmy Award in 1983 as Outstanding Lead Actor, as well as five other nominations -- in 1986, 1993, 1994, 1999 and 2000. He walked up the street from behind me and then hung out with David for about 20 minutes. It's odd hanging out on the street with them making small talk. I of course just want to talk about the show, but because they are filming so far in advance they seem to forget what is currently going on, plus Bo makes me nervous since he is such an authority figure on the show! I think he is wearing his stage clothing as it wasn't that warm to warrant this shirt in May.
Brittany Underwood makes the MEAN GIRLS in Mean Girls look like Mary Poppins. She is deliciously evil. THIS JUST IN: According to the NY Daily News Gatecrasher Column: Downloading java
Some people take their soap operas a little too seriously.
Actress Brittany Underwood, who plays Langston Wilde on ABC's "One Life to Live," had a cup of coffee dumped over her head outside an upper West Side Starbucks Wednesday afternoon.
A rep for the show tells us that a male stranger "approached her and said, 'Oh, excuse me, my bad,' and then poured the coffee over her."
Underwood had been on her way to meet cast members at a pre-Daytime Emmys party at Nikki Midtown. After she recovered from the shock, says the rep, she went to a friend's house to change clothes and wash her hair.
The bizarre incident took place outside Starbucks at 67th St. and Columbus Ave.
ANother one of the high school girls, the nicer of the Mean Girls?
Fun loving and spontaneous, Layla's not just a party girl. A dependable rock for family and friends, Layla's got big dreams she's determined to fill. Tiki Sumptner is incredibly beautiful in person, even though I am not a huge fan of her character Layla Williamson.
Kassie Wesley DePaiva was on her way to the cafeteria and I guess I caught her off guard as she let me take a shot of her sans make-up. She came to her senses and didn't let the other guy shoot her. I think she looks amazing.
I didn't even recognize her until I checked my photos at home. Do you know who it is?
Character actress? Does anyone know her name? Margicool do you?
Kathy Brier created the role of One Life to Live's Marcie Walsh in October 2002. Originally slated for a recurring role, Ms. Brier was soon put on contract, in December 2002. Marcie's heartfelt sincerity can make you laugh one minute and cry the next. In 2004, she received her first Daytime Emmy nomination in the Supporting Actress category.
Kamar de los Reyes originated the role of One Life to Live's passionate and hot-tempered Antonio Vega in 1995 and quickly became a fan favorite during his two-year stint on the show. He reprised the role in 2000. On this particular day it was just before Kamar was to come back on the regular schedule.
The butler did it, Peter Bartlett currently starring on Broadway with Joanne Worley in the Drowsey Chaperone, but his day job is working for Asa Buchanan.
Smooth and charming, Vincent Jones is as mysterious as he is charismatic. Tobia Truvillion and friend.
These two are sizzling in Lanville and NYC. Gentle by nature, Cole Thornhart's a solid guy who just wants to do the right thing. School pressures and the death of his father led to some poor choices, but life got better when he met Starr Manning. First love may be in the air. Only problem: Their parents hate each other. 23 yr old Brandon Buddy and 16 yr old Kristen Alderson.
I was so thrilled to get to talk to her. I gave her my "Fan Letter" opinion verbally. I told her how much she had grown over the past few years, and really has matured Starr into a much more believable character. She really appreciated it. Years ago she was so irritating, but now I enjoy watching her. I didn't tell her that part. Kristin confessed that the shirt she had underneath her blue top was part of her characters clothing and she wasn't supposed to go to lunch with it on, but she was in a hurry. I thanked her for taking the time out to visit with me today.
All in all it was a very successful day. Now with two visits under my belt, I have seen almost the entire cast except, including Rex and David, but no pictures of them. The only people I have never seen come out for a cigarette or run across the street for a bite to eat is Dorian, Vicky, John, Asa or Evengeline and I guess as it is we won't be seeing her now. I did see her in the Color Purple Last year so that was cool.
I am off to NYC for the weekend to cover the Tony Awards, to shoot Ashley Judd, to find out where Brad & Angelina are staying, to walk the streets of SoHo and to visit the birds in Central Park. Have a great weekend and thanks so much for stopping by and reaching 100,000 visitors in 15 months.
