OK I'm a Paparrazzi and I have my first professional gig Monday Night

The Rocky VI premiere is in Philadelphia on Monday night. I mentioned it in a conversation with my friend David, who told me he knew the name of someone to call to get a press pass for that event. SO tomorrow night will be my first official gig as a "credentialed" Paparazzi (meaning I can cross over at least one velvet rope [or gate] and not get yelled at by security or the "paid" paparazzi!) I am actually upgrading my camera today so that I can have a more professional looking one with a top mounted flash, I feel like a grown-up - LOL. To say the least I am very nervous about the first gig, but am glad I had the year or so experience around the hard core pros in NYC. Picture below is my very first experience in NYC at a movie premiere. It was the Gwyneth Paltrow's movie premiere of "Proof". I was already scoping out the situation as I took this shot from an odd angle. Gwyneth came and I couldn't get a clear shot. I knew what my goal had to be, the other side of the gate was the plan. Over the next few months I will tell you how my plan unfolded, the people I met along the way, and the story behind the Fans/Paparrazzi's/Stalkers/Dealers (autograph dealers) and others that follow the celebrities in NYC. It was an amazing journey.

The professional autograph sellers are the worst at stagedoors - they ruin it for the true fans. I don't mind papparazi really, mostly because they are rarely at regular Broadway nights. Break a leg at your first gig!

You are not kidding. The professional autograph seekers are very threatening in their actions to other fans, and to the actors. What's worse is when they want several "graphs", and also want a "picture with", taking up entirely too much time with the celebrity.

It's the same over here, though not as agressive. New York was a lot worse. Here the dealers are good, but they're still pushy.

I met Kevin Spacey the other night at stage door (and have since gone back twice - he's one of my absolute faves!) and he won't sign photos because they'll end up on ebay. Fair enough, but it has ruined it for the genuine fans. He did sign my programme, so I was happy with that and I got my photo with him!

Tomorrow night (tues), I acutally get to see the play. It's the first one that he's done in London that's going to Broadway... you'll have to keep an eye out for it - 'A Moon For The Misbegotten' - it's had great reviews here!

Sorry, to have wandered away from the subject of this post.

Hughe, I am beyond excited for ur first gig. Be sure to post about it. Will you be doing the photos exclusively for this site or as a freelancer? I'm interested...

Also don't get me started on autograph hounds, they scare me.
