My Sister's Crista's Baby Shower - Black Friday
My mom and 4 other sisters threw her a baby shower. I was the only guy invited.
I'm from a large Irish/Italian Family. We have 7 kids, and my Aunt Chris, on the far left, has 7 daughters. My mom is in the center in blue, and 4 of my sisters are in this photo. (Everyone in this picture is over 40, for two girls, can you tell which ones? 40+ doesn't look like your Edith Bunkers 40+ anymore!!)
My mom and my niece Ella.
My nieces Nicole and Kelsey
My sister Crista with 5 of my 9 nieces and nephews.
Crista might be mad that I included this personal photo, but it's really special. The matriarch of our family, Grandmom L always knitted baby clothes for each of her 12 granddaughters first born child. As soon as Crista opened the box she realized who the special hand knitted sweater and blanket were from, Grandmom L, who had died in 2003 at the age of 93.
I think it's gonna be a girl. In fact I had a dream a few months back that my grandmother L. told me it would be a girl.

Philadelphia'a Thanksgiving day parade with Kelly Ripa, Ace and Paris from American Idol fame
You can't have a parade without Pink Panther
Did you know that next March, Philadelphia will have the only King Tut exhibition on the East Coast since 1975 and only Chicago will be the other American city to host the exhibit. http://www.kingtut.org/home
Ace from American Idol fame
Because of the wind, the big balloons did not walk the entire length of the parade, but were at a holding station about 1/4 mile from the TV cameras and the main presentation stage. I had to leave for my Thanksgiving family get together, but I wish I could have stayed as it looks like the guy on the left in the foreground must be part of the Brokeback Mountain brigade.
The parade route winds itself in front of the Art Museum. The condo's I live in are in the background. I love living there even better when the Fourth of July concert occurs in front of the steps. Last year we had Elton John perform.
Strike it up, I wanna, I wanna, but of course my favorite song is "It's Raining Men". Martha Wash part of the original group "The Weather Girls" or as I knew them in the early 80's Two Tons of Fun!!
Bert I love Bert, he reminds me of my boyfriend, steady as she goes and very grounded - Love you Mike!!
Happy Thanksgiving to my aunt Daisy and uncle Donald Duck - Love Baby Huey!
Paris Bennett - Another American Idol contestant (Does Disney own Fox or something?)

Today's NY Post links Ashley Simpson and Taye Diggs
I saw him the next day (Wednesday) at Live with Regis & Kelly. I had him sign my Chicago 10th Anniversary DVD CD Booklet right on the page that featured a photo of him. He wasn't familar with the product at all and asked me if it was a part of the gift bag. I told him I bought it at Virgin Records the week before at a signing with Bebe, James and Joel Grey. He checked it out and then signed his page, thought it was cool and then signed his page.
I believe Taye had something else on his mind, maybe a little tango that night, because really if there's a photo that features someone wearing a big white shirt why would anyone sign in the only dark part of the page where the autograph can only be seen if you move the book side to side and to catch it right in the light to read it. (The other page features a 'graph from Rob Marshall the director of the movie Chicago.)

Tony Bennett Special Tonight - Special Screening in NYC Last Week
OK Elvis Costello and Diana Krall skip the kids too, but they have always been grouchy.
Rob Marshall didn't forget us, and one point later he grabbed a kids autugraph book, signed it then walked it over to Tony Bennett to have him sign it. (I got him to sign my Chicago 10th Anniversary DVD CD which I was carrying with me)
Tony Bennett and the guy rumored to take over NBC in 2007, Jeff Zucker.
Bennett has not remarried, but has a long-term relationship with Susan Crow (born 1966), a former New York City educator. Together they founded (and named after Bennett's friend) the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens, a public high school dedicated to teaching the performing arts which opened in 2001.

Ellen Tapes her show in NYC on Saturday

I went around the corner to stand by the stage door and was shocked to see Ellen cordoned off the area within 100 yards of the stage door to make room for her trailers and dressing room. BUMMER, but then I realized what a lucky spot I was in because the servers passed by my way
and not only were they cute as can be... (all model/actors waiting for their big break)
but they took pity on us and fed us! Here are a bunch of "Dealers" (guys who collect graphs to sell on Ebay or to autograph agencies) and fans getting fed.
As we busied ourselves eating, we missed Emmett Smith exit his limo and run in the stage door. So everyone walked to the opposite end of the street which had a clear view of the stage door.
I did catch Emmitt's shoes getting escorted in...
I bet you were wondering where Penelope Cruz was on the day her former beau Tom Cruise got married. Not pouting, or playing solitaire, no she was being interviewed for the ELLEN Show....only one professional Photographer (& me) got the shot. It will probably be worth a fortune.
I ran into these three girls near the stage door. They really wanted Ellen Tickets. They thought when Ellen comes out of the dressing room she will see their signs and they will get to see the show.
but Ellen was too far away, and in a hurry to do a bit stunt in front of the studio
What you will see on TV is Ellen trying to parallel park a 70's jallopy in a tight spot...
She was very happy with her success, sadly the girls with the signs were blocked by the pole and Ellen never saw their them, but eh they saw Clay Aiken at Regis and Kelly on Friday, and if you saw it too you would say "Clay putting his hand on Kelly Ripa's mouth to shut her up = Priceless!!

The Broadway Community Celebrates Julie Harris
A short time later the grande dame four time TONY winner, Angela Lansbury arrived (can you believe she played Jessica Fletcher for 263 episodes, 1984-1996, plus she was in my favorite movie Gaslight). After attempting to control my gushing, she was able to escape before I fell at her feet and bowed in awe of her glory. OK it wasn't that bad, it certainly wasn't as bad as when I met Luke and Laura yesterday. In May 2005 you will get a chance to be amazed by her geniune talent as she appears on the Boards again with Marion Seldes in Deuce playing at the Music Box in New York City. Maybe Sarah can tell me if she has been given the title of Dame by Order of the Queen, or why that title hasn't been bestowed on her. http://sarahbsadventures.blogspot.com//
I am embarrassed to say that I never ever heard of Marion Seldes and her broadway career http://www.ibdb.com/person.asp?ID=16116 before I started this business trip in NYC 8/05. I now know of her body of work and it is extensive including films and TV http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0783033/ (she appeared on one episode of Murder She Wrote), and have also heard stories of greatness people have shared with me. I have seen her attending many events, and spending good quality time chatting and posing with her fans. I look forward to see her in Deuces when it opens in May 2005.
Tyne Daly was also in attendance with this familar guy, anyone know who it is? They also came out to look at the moon, which when low in the sky looked about 10times as large as normal. I saw Tyne in Rabbit Run last season and her performance was nothing but incredible. I of course have been in love with her since her Cagney & Lacey days (she has appeared in 5 episodes of Murder she Wrote). One night I was walking down Broadway and saw her come out of the drug store Duane Reade, she must have just completed her show as it was about 111PM. She walked with a friend right down 50th towards 6th ave and not one tourist took a double take, I found myself jumping up and down screaming what are you blinded by the lights of times square, don't you know an icon of TV and broadway is in our midst. Then my daydream stopped and I let Tyne walk among us like regular folk and stopped staring at her.
The lady of the night, Julie Harris. I was not familar with her on Broadway, but enjoyed her for years on Knots Landing as the ditsy mother of Valene. Julie Harris was born in Pointe Black Mi in 1925 and is one of those rare talents whose career transcending the broadway, the big screen and the little screen. It was really an unexpected high point of my stay here in NYC.

Many years ago on this day
When I was at this event I met a super nice guy who is a daily reader of my blog (I was embarrassed on so many levels, especially when I fell apart meeting Anthony Geary and Genie Francis. Good to know I'm not completely jaded over celebs yet - LOL). He scored a ticket to see the show, I can't wait to hear how it went. Sorry I didn't make it back for the departure, that darn work got in my way!!

CHICAGO 10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW & DVD Signing Part 1
What a great celebrity night, I even got hit by a car chasing that damn Rita Wilson to get her to sign my Chicago DVD CD booklet. Injured she still didn't sign for me, just said oh watch out you might get hurt. But here are a few photos I got before I went out of commission (I'm much better now, but you should see the car as they say!) Here are just a few of my 30+ photos from the night in two parts. Here is Melanie Griffith after the show.

CHICAGO 10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW & AP Part 2
Joel Grey
Marliu Henner
Ashlee Simpson
Charlotte D'Amboise
Terra C. Macleod, Brenda Braxton
Bruce Winant Since I collected signatures at the After Party, I don't have any photos on the Red Carpet. I confess that I made the #1 celebrity stalker error, after running into a friend who actually went to the show, we grabbed a bite to eat to talk about the show shortly after I took this photo. We both thought they would be inside at least 30 minutes, we were both starving and I had to go to the bathroom after waiting 5 hrs to get the shots of the stars running back and forth from the theater to the dressing rooms (hotel across the street), ok TMI. Anyway while we were gone Ann Reinking and a few others left, oh well. What can you do. My boyfriend always says people come before celebrities, Fuck That - LOL I won't obssess, I won't obsess, I won't obsess, I won't obsess

Who can make me stand in the rain for a glimpse, and other crazy fan things
Ok now to the important suff. Who's this hot best friend...who frankly I think is the Wizard behind the curtain
Gayle King, or simply Gayle, Oprah's best friend. Ok I was a few seconds off and missed a really good shot. But who cares, I have plenty of good pictures, but what the hell is going on with Oprah's hair lately, she has been getting more matronly. She's not so old that she needs to do this pulled back Katherine Graham hairstyle.
Oprah in green on the Red Carpet (which was brown)!! Check out Gayle's muscled legs.
Ironically, right across the street at another event promoting the new Lexus 460, (you can see the red of the library banners on the left in background), LUDACRIS. I wanted to tell him who was across the street getting an award, perhaps sending him into a Kanya West rage, but he seemed a little out of it. You will recall their feud when he said Oprah feels that rappers degrade women and insists he would like to return to the Oprah show to discuss rap music, even though she won't invite him to.
Funny scary story, the other night when I was at an event I haven't blogged about yet, I met a guy on the Red Carpet of the Conde Nasts "Black Ball", a charity event supporting kids with AIDs in Africa. Anyway, I met this guy and was chatting, he got especially excited when we saw Gayle King. He said he was a big fan of Oprah's.
I told him that on Monday there was gonna be an Oprah event at the NY Public Library and she was getting an award and they usually have a fan set up to see arrivals. Well last night while waiting for the departures this guy comes up to me, I didn't recognize him at first, especially because he was in a tux, but then caught on that it was him. I asked him how much he had to pay for the ticket, he said "Oh I'm a cater waiter and I found out who was catering, and applied." Hmmm I thought. Did you see Oprah, "I arranged it to be her waiter, and of course, I tried to get a photo with her, but her bodyguards said take it while she's walking she won't be posing." He then tried to get close a few more times, but nothing worked out with him. WHEW, I think he has a little bit more of an obsession than me, or maybe he's just a little more creative. What do you think?

Diane Keaton guest stars at the Martin Short Fame Becomes Me on Broadway
I got to hear her say "EWWWWWW" in her best Annie Hall voice. I wish the photo was clearer, but she jumped out of the SUV and the doorhandlers began to surround her to block the dealers, and I quickly shot it as she whizzed by, but I am happy for the experience.
After a little research I found out how to see who will be Jimmy Clicks guest star: http://www.martinshortthemusical.com/glick4.php

Rogers & Hammerstein visits GMA
If I bent down like this, I wouldn't be shocked if my pants just split down the middle.
She was in an ICONIC film and was born on 12/12/31
Ought oh, better watch out or the censor board might fine you!! Next to the Icon is Charmian Carr from the Sound of Music - Liesl Von Trapp
Can you see who it is?
She was in an ICONIC film, that was filmed on this location before Lincoln Center was built and the area was part of the projects.

NYC Marathon and Central Park at its Peak
I went over to the Time Warner Center to check out one of my favorite views. In the center of the picture, behind the truck, Marilson Gomes dos Santos made a remarkable debut, breaking away from the lead pack in the last quarter of Sunday's race and holding off an all-star field of challengers to become the first South American to win the race, man or woman. Gomes finished in 2 hours, 9 minutes and 58 seconds.
Then I walked over to the west side of the park to take a few photos. I happen to come upon the part of the race that runs right through the center.
As luck would have it I caught Lance Armstrong running by. This was within a minute of me walking to this spot.
Then I went back to shooting in the park.
Congratulations to the DEMOCRATS, now its on to the WHITE HOUSE!!

25th Annual Celebration of Sundance Films Gala
Then Kathy Bates; she looks amazing. I screwed up the first shot, as I was telling her how great she looks, and she answered as I took the shot. She started laughing and said that one isn't going to look good, take another one.
OK so I didn't get to see Madonna this week, but I did get to see the guy who she poured hot wax on during sex in the movie Dangerous Game. He's always been reluctant to pose, as you can imagine, but tonight there were only two of us there and he obliged.
Kyle MacLachlan - Whoppeee! I have seen him a couple times before, but now that I am into his character on Desperate Housewives I was really excited to see him. I of course went nuts, saying how excited I was that now that Laurie Metcalf has been killed, his character could stay on a while longer. He said maybe, maybe not, we shall see. Then I remembered, hmmm hey you're in NYC and the show is filmed in LA, is there something you're not telling me?
Andrew Shue - Ohhhhhh Billlyyyy Alyson would say. He looks the same, as cute as ever!!
Dustin Hoffman lately he has been hiding from the paparrazzi wearing a bag. I just got a shot of him and a bag would be an improvement. How glum can you get?
George Lucas what a catch. This guy is reluctant to get a shot of, and now that he has announced his retirement he will be more reclusive then ever.
Before she came out, her body guard, driver spilled his guts on where she lives (Town), what she's up to, the new series she's developing and a bit about her life. But I am gonna keep mum about most of it. Sometimes I am surprised about what limo drivers give up to us fans. Glen had a broken foot, but she was still fairly quick on it telling me feel free to take my picture, but I'm not going to stop. She did look my way, and that meant the world to this shot. Darn I didn't have enough time to grovel about Dangerous Liasons. I hear its her favorite movie too!!

Reese & Ryan and the Rest of the Story
The seemingly happy couple, although now I don't think they look very happy in any of these pictures, pose one last time before heading through the doors of the hotel where the screening is to take place. As this location is located in Tribeca, there really isn't anyone ie tourist around to see the stars walk the "red carpet" here, and the paparazzi usually lets me stand behind them (behind the photographer line) without any problems. If it was more crowded with street people, they would all banish us to the sidewalk and more of an angular shot, and perhaps the security would chase us away.
Ryan and Reese walk into the hotel. The reason I shot this was because he wasn't walking very close to Reese, who I believe showed up to the screening to help boost her husbands sagging career, coulodn't he even muster an arm around her to help her on the cobblestone, I mean she flew all this distance and left the babies in someone elses care. Of course 20 minutes later when they emerged, separately, I should have known there was trouble in paradise. (this picture was taken at 7PM)
Now for the rest of the story. I mentioned in my earlier post that after awhile (working the press line inside the hotel), Ryan and Reese left the screening (7:45PM). What I didn't say is they left separately. Ryan came out first, refusing to pose, he had his hands in front of his face and he ran to his waiting SUV yelling "I am off the clock don't take my picture", "isn't it her you want to shoot." We were all a bit confused because we didn't see "her" and even had a few minutes to discuss among ourselves that maybe she left a different way, there is a door on the other side. Picture here Ryan in the SUV alone.
When Reese emerged after about 3 minutes, it caught me off guard and I missed the shot of her posing one last time, but caught up to get this shot, of course telling her I had just seen "Walk the Line" again last night, and having the words "I bought the movie too!" tumble out of my mouth. She sweetly said thanks. As I fumbled to shoot them both in the car, but the darn driver got in the way of my shot. (7:49PM)
And as I wrote in my earlier entry: Later I went to the After Party, or AP as the lingo goes. Now I am not one to gossip, but I hear the two sweethearts exchanged words upstairs, with Reese telling Ryan, "I don't know what you mean by saying I am embarrasing you, how could you say I am embarrasing you?" Then, I said, the partygoer, who was standing close to me while recounting the story to a friend on the phone (really it was to a reporter and a paparazzi, and I waited until the middle of the next day to see if the story would surface since it was told to them and I didn't want to use it, they didn't, all he said on his website (which I read in the morning) was that she looked angry leaving the party, and I later heard the paparazzi attempted to sell the story to one of the glossys [gosh I didn't know you could sell stories] So I wrote about it on my blog), the partygoer said that after the exchange of words Ryan stormed back into the room with the bar and Reese went into the bathroom. About 15 minutes after this incident, they exited the Soho Grand Hotel, where the party was held. She walked ahead of him with a smirked, he looked like he just sucked on a lemon. I was kinda sad to hear they had a little fight, but I saw the movie A Star is Born, and unless this movie is a hit for Ryan, this could continue to be that classic scenario. (This is the last picture of Reese & Ryan together [the other photographers only go side shots, as I ran up to the SUV and rested my back against it and got them walking towards it, and right before the security guards and papparazi trampled me I got this photo; the lengths I go for my blog]. Reese checked out of the hotel the next day and filed for divorce 12 days later) I think she looks relieved in this picture, she probably knew it was the last time she had lend her good name to one of her husbands projects, and instead was thinking "Free at Last, I can dump this "according to many news sources including Us, People, NE & Fox" cheating no good husband of mine"!! And that is the rest of the story!! (12:09AM)
A favorite columnist of mine, Roger Friedman who writes Fox411 witness the fight that occurred between Reese & Ryan, but didn't write about it until after she filed for divorce on 10/30/06 (and we now have heard Ryan cheated on her). You can read eyewitness account here: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,226399,00.html I on the otherhand must be an unscrupolous blogger like my boyfriend says, but I did waited at least 15hrs to see if any of the professionals on the scene would write about the story, they didn't, so I posted it on my blog. Doesn't that show I have some some scrupples, Mike? A mention of both Roger and I on MSN http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/hotgossip/11-01-06?GT1=7701

Madonna, in town all week, I kept missing her because
Natalie Morales on the Today Show dress as vintage '90s Madonna
And then there's the girl that the press dubbed "The poor man's Elizabeth Taylor" Joan Collins, who I saw at the Time Warner Bldg, the same bldg were just an hour later I missed Madonna going in to have dinner with Gwyneth Paltrow as reported to me by a stalker fan and a paparazzi. I knew Gwyneth had gone in, but my friends weren't sure if they saw Madonna go in about 5 minutes, trailed by a bodyguard. I know both people feel bad about it, and my paparazzi friends are just sick about it, as we discussed the situation at one of that nights party, wondering why Gwyneth would go there except to eat dinner with maybe Madonna, except we thought it was too late for her especially with the 5 hr time change from London, we thought she would be sleeping. We didn't listen to our hunch. I did send the sighting into Gawker.com
Even after working 53hrs this week, I was still able to see alot of celebs, and I ended my day on a high note as the Hugh2030 blog was again mentioned in various news media's regarding (sadly) the Reese Witherspoon marriage. My friend Shirley from Minn. sent me this link where me and my blog reporting are mentioned. http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/hotgossip/11-01-06?GT1=7701

Grey Gardens Opening Night on Broadway
After speaking with a few paparazzi friends, they told me that no one exciting showed up. Now I know Rosie and Kelli were there, and they agreed, but look who they missed because "no one exciting" ie. no one who would sell was there, no Britney, Madonna or JLo is what they meant. In this picture the guy in the white crocodile jacket, I know its crocodile because he wore it to an event last April and it was described that way in the fashion rags, anyway, did you see the Devil Wears Prada? This is Leon Tally, he is played in the movie by Stanley Tucci. He is the devil's assistant and you would need to wear crocodile to protect yourself from the Devil Who Wears Prada Ms Anna Wintour editor of Vogue.
Here is Harvey Fierstein did I mention that Grey Gardens has a big gay cult following, as does the star. You have got to listen to the podcast of an interview with Christine Ebersole about the show and her gay following. She says to survive in show business you have got to have a gay following, you just aren't worth a grain of salt without them. I liked that he smiled for me. All last year he had that darn beard for Fiddler, I finally got him without it.
Guess who's sister this is? It's Jackie O's sister, Lee Bouvier. They have the same profile. They are both featured in almost the entire first act as little girls playing at Grey Gardens (the name of the estate where her aunt and cousin live) I think that if the Kennedy link wasn't there, this show would never have seen the light of day.
Kelsey Fowler portrays her.
Mary Louise Wilson is terrific in the show as big Edie. And wow what a difference she looks like in person. Ms Wilson used to be on "One Day at a Time" as Ms. Romano's friend Ginny. Plus many other TV shows, including All My Children as Greenlee's grandmother.
Everyone says just give Christine Ebersole the Tony, and they are right. She is wonderful in the show, even though the show is a real downer as we see the glory days of two grande women, who in their later years fall prey to mental illness and neglect.

Ricky Martin was honored by the Latin Grammy Awards
I shot them before the crowd realized they were in the house, but unfortunately cut off her legs, I ready myself to shoot again
and was rewarded with this great photo, as they walked quickly towards me (notice Marc looking at me thinking how am I going to get through this linebacker) just as the crowd started to scream her name and rush towards her.
rushing in on all sides similarly to the overwhelming crowd last night at the 2 million plus crowd at the Halloween parade. I tried to get out of the way, yelling that I would move and others could take my place, but before I could do anything, I backed into and knocked over the velvet ropes and the darn thing tripped me up tangling my legs and stopping me in my tracks, the bodyguards were very unhappy, pushing me and pulling on my briefcase strap choking me, but that didn't stop me from coming face to face with
Marc and J-Lo. I counted the pores on their face, asked if she was pregnant, mentioned that Hughie would be a good boys name, or Hughweena if a girl. Then told her that I just saw her movie "Monster-in-Law" last night and how much I loved it, and in the same breath mentioned that I thought she should have married Puff Daddy he is so much cooler and cuter than Mark, especially up close like this. Ok none of that happened (except I did see her movie last night) as everything happened so quickly and the next thing you know; hmm doesn't it look like Marc has a party hat on?
finally the bodyguard found the right staircase and my fear of being trampled by Marc, JLo and the screaming fans, subsided.
And then after giving the award to Tim Robbins, quickly exiting 30 minutes later.
Clowns and spectators
