GUCCI AND HUGHE GO GAGA FOR NEW YORK

Confessions is winding down as we gear up for NYC's Fall Fashion Week 2008. I have been sending letters to the houses day and night, doing extensive research to determine all the right parties for me to cover and preparing my equiptment for intensive coverage for my agency and for my readers. One of the most exciting events I hope to cover is the Gucci/Mawli/Madonna event next Wednesday. I haven't heard if I am in yet, but my fingers are crossed.

With its largest flagship in the world opening on Fifth Avenue during New York Fashion Week, complete with a sparkling charity bash hosted by Madonna on February 6, the Italian house launched today an online valentine to the Big Apple. The site, with a cute URL of Gucci Loves NY, offers a preview of the massive retail temple--designed by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini and celebrity architect James Carpenter. It also features Madonna's "I Love New York" as soundtrack; a Google map with Frida and designer Mark Lee's favorite shops, eateries, nightclubs and other haunts; pics and entries from established bloggers and, well, whomever wants to contribute. Gucci will add the best entries to the map and the four top posts will score a limited-edition Gucci Loves NY handbag.

As usual I will try and do entries of my days events, although they might not always include photos. I leave on Thursday to pick up my credentials at the Tents. Oh and I am attending the DVF show with my friend Kati.

HOW DOES A REPORTER FIND THE SOUNDBITE?

HEATH LEDGER DEAD, it's not supposed to be his turn

from 1/28/06 entry- BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN WITH HEATH LEDGER & JAKE GYLLENHAALNEED need I say more. Saw it 2xs. The 2nd time was much better as I really paid attention to what they were saying. I saw Heath Ledger at the premiere, but missed a good shot when he was signing for the autograzzi's and ignored the one fan truly there for him, I do have a nice picture of his and Michelle's back and head. A few frigid weeks later I saw him leaving GMA. He had just been nominated for a Golden Globe a few minutes before, I wished him well (I was proabably the first fan to do so, do I get a toaster? (BB should win for best picture) The best line in any romance movie has to be “I wish I knew how to quit you,” a frustrated Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) tells his not-so-easy lover, Ennis del Mar (Heath Ledger).

I HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR SHOOTING INSIDE AT NEW YORK CITY FALL 2008 FASHION WEEK !!!

Most people want to know how do you get to see one of these fashion shows in NYC? How do I get tickets? You have to be invited by the designer or be friends with someone who gets an invite or be Press to get tickets to the show. Otherwise it's down right impossible, although a few people have been known to talk their way in, but I wouldn't bank on that situation. I applied last season to shoot the shows, but was turned down. You really have to have published "fashion work" to get approved, and although I had worked for a photo agency for over 9 months, I only had local stuff published in the Philly papers. Then I switched agencies and between October and today, I have had a lot of stuff published nationally and internationally. In fact just last month, in December a photo I took of Victoria Beckham at Septemeber's Fashion Week, specifically the Marc Jacobs show, was published in LOOK magazine in the UK. (Photo below: In between shows, alot of the photographers wait outside by the curb to see which celebrities will be dropped off at the stage door.) TODAY I GOT THIS EMAIL: CONGRATULATIONS! We are happy to inform you that your application for press and industry accreditation for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2008 Collections, February 1st - 8th, 2008, has been approved. This year they'll be no Heatherette, Richie Rich, Trevor Raines or Paris as Heatherette is not on the schedule. Say it ain't so!" Yours truly is done. I absolutely adore, adore, adore this collection and the show it is a highlight of Fashion Week. Reports have come in that the duo is not commenting on why they are canceling the show but are promising to return in September and will be around for their M.A.C. for Heatherette launch this Spring. There are also rumors of them having an after-party this season, even without the show. I think I need to lay down.

ANNETTE AND VANESSA but most importantly people

Wednesday, I wrote an entry about a autograph seeker Annette who recently passed away. I wrote from the heart about who she was, and what she did, and how others treated her. One of the comments left on my blog stated that I disrespected her, but that wasn't the case at all, it takes a lotta chutzpah, a thick skin and intuition to be a successful autograph dealer (I don't have any of those attributes). You have to be aggressive, ruthless, and assertive because you need the 'graph more than the other guy. I respected them, I got to know them, and they were great business women and they provided a service to the fans all over the world by selling the stuff on Ebay. They didn't care if people like them or not. They didn't pander to anyone, if you respected them, they respected you. When Annette died I wanted to pay tribute in the most honest way I knew how and that was to give a little insight to the job they did, but also share the craziness that is this business. A lot people who do what we do are a bit crazy, and sometimes it's like high school, and there's fighting, and bickering and crap and lines drawn in the sand about who you should or shouldn't talk to. The one thing that got me in more trouble with these people is that I didn't want to follow those rules. I wanted to talk to everyone, and I did. Last night was the National Movie Board Awards which were held in NYC. I was going to go but as you know I was sick as a dog, plus it was COLD OUT!! But looky here my friend Anthony got the "Money Shot" of Jennifer Garner because she knows to get that fashion shot published, she's got to ditch the coat. You can see to her right her assistant is holding her coat and in the background the fans are in their coats. I believe the temps were 30F last night. Did you know that everyday you could log onto http://www.people.com/ and see your favorite celebrity out and about the night before. In fact some of these shots appear in the magazine the next week, and then some do not. It's a good place to go daily.

DIANE KEATON NEEDS TO CUT OUT CAFFEINE

I was shocked while watching GMA this morning and an interview with Diane Keaton. DK must have had too much caffeine as she first hits on Diane Sawyer, and then drops the F bomb on TV. I found a good write up on the Huffington Post: Diane Keaton had a highly-amusing "Good Morning America" interview with Diane Sawyer Tuesday to promote "Mad Money". After recounting how she once stole belts from Bloomingdales and has long honed her personality, Keaton turned the tables on Diane Sawyer. Sheri Shepard is still as stupid as every especially since she thinks SHirley Bassey is the black Patti LaBelle. I'm going to join the Bob Greene/Oprah Live your best life challenge, I talked to my friends in NYC, they were hanging out at Letterman waiting for Katie Holmes to exit the taping of the show. They arrived yesterday, Tom, Suri and Katie. They went to FAO Schwartz last night. We are all wondering if there is going to be a screening as all the players are in NYC this week for TV shows. Anyone know?

Newly sworn-in Mayor Michael Nutter hosted an open house at City Hall Tuesday to meet the residents of Philadelphia on his first full day in office. The meet and greet was scheduled from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., but lasted much longer than the scheduled time ending at about 10PM. Those who attended had the opportunity to meet the mayor while enjoying performances from area school bands as well as Philadelphia pretzels and Tastykakes.
